在莱克顿的体育课上，我们迎来了令人兴奋的一年。体育课的日程表上，新增了许多运动项目。本学期，莱克顿的学生们继续保持着每周10小时以上的运动时间，近20项运动项目可供他们选择，其中包括每周一的选修项目：男子足球、无板篮球、排球、空手道、网球、健身、瑜伽等；周二的选修项目：游泳、篮球、羽毛球、击剑、跆拳道等；以及周四的必修精英项目：马术、赛艇、帆船。

What a fantastic start to our sports year. Our students do have an amazing opportunity to take part in wonderful activities as more sports have been added to the PE schedule. There are nearly 10 hours of exercise each week, and nearly 20 sports for students to choose from, including football, netball, volleyball, karate, tennis, fitness, yoga and so on every Monday, coupled with swimming, basketball, badminton, fencing, taekwondo and so on every Tuesday. There are also elite sports on Thursday, including equestrian, rowing.

每周一的足球课由体育课程主管张老师带领，无板篮球课则由体育总监Mr Meehan亲自授课，其他的选修运动也由特别聘请的专项教练为学生们提供教学，其中空手道和健身课赢得了许多男生的喜爱，女生们会更多地选择网球和瑜伽。周二的运动项目在原有的课程中增加了击剑和跆拳道，专业的教练、帅气的动作使学生们很快就爱上了这些运动，在之后的学习中也逐渐打破简单的认知，开始了更为专业的学习。

Every Monday, Mr Zhang, Sports Curriculum Coordinator, oversees the football class, while the netball is led by Mr Meehan, Head of Sports. Other sports are also taught by professional coaches, among which karate and fitness classes are popular with many boys, while girls are more likely to choose tennis and yoga. Fencing and taekwondo were added on Tuesday this term. Both are really cool sports, which gives students great interest and enthusiasm in the following study.

在世界舞台上，许多领导人和成功者都有体育上的一技之长，美国前任财长亨利鲍尔森就曾是大学校橄榄球队的明星球员，IMF主席拉加德曾是一位花样游泳运动员，俄罗斯总统普京也曾是一名柔道教练……体育运动可以培养出难以击垮的信心和号召力，可以培养出一个人的竞争意识和团队合作意识，这些也恰恰是一个成功者应该具备的素质。也正因为此，我们将这种体育教育作为一项基础教育去重视且要求每一位学生都参与其中。

There are many leaders and achievers have athletic skills in the world. Henry Paulson, the 74th Secretary of the Treasury, was also a football star in university. Christine Lagarde, the Former Managing Director of IMF, was a synchronized swimmer. Vladimir Putin, the Russian President, was a judo coach, and so on. Sports develop a strong sense of competition and teamwork, and consciously cultivate their own confidence and perseverance, and these are the qualities that an achiever should have. Lucton attaches great importance to sports as basic education and requires every student to participate.

除了锻炼体魄，健康身心，在体育运动中，学习体育精神也是极其重要的。为此，莱克顿精选了三项特色体育项目作为必修运动项目，意在培养学生运动本身以外的精神风貌、竞技素养、国际视野。莱克顿人应该是能驾驭自己身体的主人，在马术课程中，学生们学习到如何掌控马与人的协调，在学习马术的过程中，变得自信、勇敢，富有骑士般拼搏向前的精神；莱克顿人也应该是能够协调团队、凝聚核心、具有领导力的人，在莱克顿的赛艇课上，自由发展个性的学生们将学会如何融入集体，共同运转，团结一致的前进；莱克顿人更应该是拥有坚定的信念、冷静的思维，精神强大的人，在学习帆船的过程中时，学生们渐渐形成了极大的耐心、能够承受失败的勇气、对船和自己负责的责任心。

In addition to getting physical exercise, learning sportsmanship is also important in sports. Lucton offered three elite sports as compulsory subjects, aiming to shape students' character and cultivate global vision beyond sports itself. Luctonains should be masters who can control their own bodies. In the equestrian course, students learn how to control the coordination between horses and themselves. They are encouraged to be as confident and brave as knights after learning. At the same time, Luctonains are expected to be able to coordinate the team and have a strong ability of leadership. Students who develop their own personalities will learn how to integrate into the group in the rowing course. Students also develop great patience, courage to withstand failure, and a sense of responsibility for the boat and themselves in sailing classes.

在今年的体育课程中，莱克顿不仅增加了更丰富的运动项目，同时也在积极地为学生们提供参加体育赛事的机会。在体育总监Mr Meehan及体育课程主管张老师地带领下，学生中渐渐形成了成熟的、可以参加体育比赛的队伍，例如：女子羽毛球队、男子篮球队、男子足球队等。

本学期初，莱克顿加入了上海学校体育协会，与上海各个学校学生展开体育方面的竞争。在之后的日子里，我们先后参加了上海羽毛球锦标赛，男子篮球锦标赛和女子赛艇竞赛等等。
在近期的比赛中，女子羽毛球赛的两支队伍，一支成功地进入了半决赛，并止步于此，另一支晋级了四分之一决赛，最终被一个非常强大的法国学校组合打败了；上周六，莱克顿的女生们也参加了第一场赛艇比赛，与上海的其他学校竞争。在水面上激烈的你追我赶后，她们赢得了第二名的好成绩，所有参赛队员学习赛艇仅一年的时间。同一天参加竞赛的还有我们的篮球队，在淘汰制的竞争中输掉了比赛。尽管结果不够理想，但是在比赛过程中，学生们表现出了强大的团队协作力和凝聚力，他们调节自我的情绪和状态，积极争取、把握每一个反击的机会，承受着比分落后的压力，一次次奋起挑战、打破困境，这些才是体育竞争真正的意义和价值。也许最终的成绩没有尽如人意，但是我们的学生在比赛过程中所展现的体育精神，才正是莱克顿精心打造体育课程、积极带领学生参加比赛的初衷。

Lucton entered into the Shanghai Sports Association at the beginning of this term, we had some exciting events taking place with our competitions in SSA, including the Shanghai badminton tournament, boys basketball events and girls rowing event and so on.
Recently, one of the two girls badminton teams successfully reached the semi-finals, while the other reached the quarter-finals and was defeated by a powerful French school team. Last Saturday, the girls team, which all members had studied rowing for only a year, took part in the first rowing race, competing against other schools in Shanghai and won the second prize. On the same day, our basketball team, which lost in the competition, also showed strong teamwork and cohesiveness. They adjust their strategy and grasp every opportunity to fight back under pressure, these are the real meaning and value of sports competition.

莱克顿将一直鼓励学生进行自己喜爱的体育运动，并希望能为每一位学生提供参与比赛的机会。无论是作为专业运动培养，还是作为普通的兴趣爱好，体育都将让他们收益终生，在一场竞争激烈的比赛，莱克顿的学生会更享受参与的过程。未来两周，莱克顿人还将参加女子篮球锦标赛和新赛季的男子篮球联赛，让我们一起期待接下来的征程吧。

Sports are regarded as an essential part of students' lives in Lucton. Students are encouraged to represent the school. Lucton continues to offer more choices in sports to fulfil the different interests of students, shaping their character, and fostering their creativity and community spirit, which will be treasure in their whole life. In the next two weeks, we will have girls basketball events and the new boys basketball season. we hope Luctonians will achieve outstanding results in the future.
